The ISD INSIDER sat down with American Braiding to get some insights into the company and why they chose to be an ISD Technical Leader sponsor.  We spoke with Jason Bailey, President, and Don Chittum, Sales Manager.

 

ISD INSIDER: American Braiding has been an ISD member for a number of years, but we'd like to share a little background information on the company with our readers.  What can you tell us about your history?

 

Bailey: For almost 35 years, American Braiding and Manufacturing Co. has been manufacturing one of the most complete lines of high quality mechanical packing and related fluid sealing products available.  In 1978, former Packing Development Engineer for Johns Manville Company Jerry Bailey founded American Braiding as a primary supplier to the government military supply chain, assisting in the creation of many of the current military specifications that exist today.

 

As the company grew, American Braiding branched out to the commercial market developing a worldwide chain of distribution for their line of fluid sealing products with emphases on the technical aspect, development and improvement of packing and fluid sealing products.

 

INSIDER: So what do you think about ISD's new Technical Leader sponsorship, and why did you take that on?

 

Chittum: As a long-time ISD member, we're excited about where the board is headed with the emphasis on leveraging Associate expertise to provide more options for the distributor members to develop their folks and their business.  American Braiding enters its second generation of existence with an experienced team of sealing application specialists in pumps, valves, static and rotating equipment.  With over 100 years of combined experience in fluid sealing manufacturing and distribution, American Braiding is proud to serve the ISD both as a resource for information and as their Packing Technical Leader sponsor.  We're looking forward to offering ISD's September Sealing Your Success e-Seminar on compression packing, and hope to participate in additional programs as they are created.
