Leak-free plant operation is a universal goal; this session will focus on how to ensure joint integrity through the use of gasket selection and practical bolting methods.  The information provided will include some of the basic elements needed to achieve "leak free" operation of large diameter flanged joint connections.  It will focus on gasket stress issues, load and torque, and include a look at the technology behind bolted joint assemblies.  Topics will include joint analysis, evaluating flange data, machining procedures, bolting basics (both theory and function), radial shear, gasket styles, and new equipment design such as Camprofile gaskets.  There are no silver bullets, but leak-free operation is likely easier than you think.
